River of Love

Jevin has been helping at Awana, leading music before council time for two of the age groups. He chooses the songs for each group and practices during the week. He leads the kids in singing and he chooses two or three volunteers to help him with the actions. He has learned a lot about leading music over the last couple of weeks!

Emoji Pillow

Enavi took a class at the Verona Library in which the kids were able to make emoji pillows. She thought there was going to be sewing involved, but it was a simple cut and glue project. She designed the face and she told me may add some of her own embellishments and stitching at home. My favorite part: the tongue sticking out.

Doodle Crate Sculpture

Enavi has a gift subscription to Doodle Crate where she receives a box with some type of artistic project by mail each month. Sometimes she works on the project right away and sometimes she saves them for a rainy day. Today was kind of gloomy and damp and she was really excited to pull out this sculpture activity.

Purple Belt

Tonight Jevin received his purple belt for martial arts. His belt also includes a black stripe, which means that he is an assistant instructor in his class. We are so proud of his hard work, perseverance and awesome attitude.

Carnival Helpers

The preschool at our church hosted a carnival open house and the kids volunteered to help. Enavi helped with face painting and Jevin performed magic tricks. They did a great job!

The Long Skinny

My latest knitting project is called The Long Skinny. It's a scarf that is designed to use up all those left over bits from other projects. I'm enjoying watching the colors shift and change as I join new yarn when one of my leftovers runs out.

I decided to give a nod to Fat Tuesday and make gumbo for dinner. The colors of the peppers, onions and celery were so vibrant in the late afternoon light.

Every year our church hosts a women's retreat at a local camp and it is something that I really look forward to! My favorite part of the retreat happens on Sunday morning. There's usually fewer people, and we worship and learn and we also share communion together. It's a really beautiful way to remember Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

We've been pretty healthy this winter, but today Jevin is not feeling well. Hopefully a day of rest will help him to feel better.
