Herb's Shed

Day 111/365
Earlier this week, Herb had his old shed torn down. Today, they burned down the remains, carefully watching the blaze and moving the metal pieces into a separate pile. Our view of the road looks very different without the old shed there.

Koala Ball

Day 110/365
When we got up this morning, we discovered that our furnace had stopped working during the night. It was pretty cool in the house, so I plugged in one of our space heaters to help warm things up. Enavi happily pulled her koala ball, an early birthday present from Nana Huldy, close to the heater to work on her reading.

The Weird Cat that Loves Us

Day 106/365
This cat is weird. There's really no other way to say it! He is super friendly and lets the kids pet him and hold him, and he always tries to sneak in the house... but he's weird. His eyes are a little crazy and he likes to lick toes. The kids call him "BSS", short for Black Shadow Scorcher. Today B was constantly meowing and wanted Jevin to follow him across the road to the barn. Jevin trailed after him and watched him wander from place to place, with no obvious destination. Jevin finally picked him up and brought him back to our side of the road. As soon as he set B on the ground, the cat rolled in the one patch of gravel in the driveway, turned toward the barn and the meowing started again.

BSS was certainly happy when he was being held and you can tell by Jevin's smile that he was happy, too.

Crochet Projects

Day 105/365
We were stuck at home today because of ice and snow-covered roads. Church was cancelled, so we stayed in our jammies, watched movies and worked on craft projects. Enavi completed this crochet owl pouch - it so CUTE! She's already started on her next project: a crochet sloth.

Inky Landscapes

Day 103/365
We took another alcohol ink class tonight, with Carrie and Nana Sue. We learned how to make three different landscapes including a moonlit mountain range and a vibrant sunset. Even though we all learned the same techniques, everyone's art turned out completely different. I'm so thankful that we could spend the evening together, making beautiful works of art.

Foggy Sunrise

Day 102/365
The fog was beautiful this morning, and I was delighted to see the vibrant sunrise over the Mount Vernon valley.

Shy Crocus

Day 100/365
I've been watching these little guys for weeks. They sprouted, grew their lovely outer petals... and then refused to open in protest over the cold temperatures. The sun and slightly warmer temps coaxed these shy crocuses to open their blooms, just a little bit.

In Search of Spring

Day 97/365
With flurries and frigid temps, it certainly doesn't feel like spring weather will arrive anytime soon. I did find these sweet, small, fluffy buds today. Perhaps spring will make an appearance soon!
