Joy in the Journey

 Day 222/366

We are heading home today and I snuck in a quick picture before hitting the road.  It's always hard to leave, but we are looking forward to getting home, unpacking and sleeping in our own beds.

Camp Safari

 Day 221/366

Jason took us on a ride around camp this evening.  We rode in the truck on different trails, got to see the horses in their pasture, took a short tour of the new maintenance shed, and saw the waterfront where the campers swim.  It was a fun, behind-the-scenes safari with our tour guide.  I had to grab one last picture of these cousins together.

Bounding Blossoms

Day 185/366
These pretty flowers grow abundantly along the lake shore as ground cover. I love seeing all of the purple and white blooms, especially in the late afternoon light.

For the Glory

Day 54/366
I attended our church's women's retreat this weekend, which is always uplifting, encouraging and lots of fun. The retreat center where we stay has a lovely view of the sunrise, and I woke up early so that I could watch the sun peek over the horizon. A few moments later I turned my head and I noticed that the light was falling on the piano, perfectly illuminating this sign. What a glorious reminder as we wrap up our retreat!

Giant Sasquatch

Day 181/365
As we made our way back to Seattle, we drove out to see Mount St. Helens. The view wasn't the best because of cloud cover, but we did manage to find a giant Sasquatch!

Multnomah Falls

Day 180/365
We drove out to Mount Hood today and stopped to view several spectacular waterfalls. This is Multnomah Falls, the largest waterfall in the state of Oregon and the second tallest year round waterfall in the US.

20 Years

Day 178/365
We celebrated our anniversary with a drive to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast. What an amazing and beautiful place! It was rainy and gloomy most of the day, but the sun came out not long after we arrived at the beach. I also pulled out the tripod and we had some fun taking pictures at sunset.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery

Day 177/365
Eno recommended that we visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery to see the process of roasting and packaging the coffee beans. It was not far from our hotel and we walked there this morning to enjoy some coffee before we began our sightseeing in the city. We purchased coffee that was brewed right in front of us through a siphon, a really neat experience (the coffee was tasty, too!).

The Space Needle

Day 176/365
We packed a lot into our first day in Seattle: Pike Place Market, the Big Wheel, lunch with Eno, the Ballard locks, the Space Needle, the Chihuly glass museum and the Museum of Pop Culture. Over 20,000 steps and we are exhausted, but we really enjoyed seeing so much of the city.
