Macro Monday

Day 274/365
More rain today, which didn't really allow for much picture taking outside. I decided to try out a technique I read about a couple of weeks ago - macro photography with bubbles. It was fun to try something new, and I love the wild, vivid colors.

Pottery at the Farmer's Market

Day 249/365
We met my aunt and sister at the Madison Farmer's Market on the capital square. We hadn't been there for several years and really enjoyed the beautiful day, seeing all of the offerings from a wide variety of local vendors. We sampled lots of fresh produce and some baked goods. We also found some local artists selling jewelry, printed t-shirts and pottery. I especially liked this collection of hand made bowls.

Condensation

Day 180/365
I noticed the condensation that had formed on my glass during dinner and thought it would make for an interesting picture. Once I looked at in Lightroom, I noticed the subtle hints of color around the drops of water. I decided to edit the photo in a way that really enhanced the color in the droplets. I think it made a pretty unique photo, and it was fun to make a new discovery.

Neon Straws

Day 168/365
Our internet is working again - yippee! I took this photo earlier this week, trying out a new technique for me called zoom burst. I focused on these neon straws and slowly zoomed in while the shutter was open for about one second. It is a really fun effect!

Trestle Bridge

Day 151/365
We discovered this old trestle bridge on a bike trail that runs through Belleville. The design and colors were really striking at dusk and we enjoyed checking it out.

Epic Bridge

Day 137/365
After Jevin's soccer game, we gave my parents a tour of part of the Epic campus. I liked the way the late afternoon sunlight was falling across this bridge, creating areas of shadow and light. I really like the end result, especially in black and white.

Spokes

Day 106/365
It was cool and windy today - not exactly a nice day to be riding one's bike. I did, however, think that the spokes on Jevin's bike would make fun picture!

Bubble Wrap

Day 38/365
We received a package in the mail earlier this week and I saved a scrap piece of bubble wrap for an art project with the kids (the kids demolished the rest of it with glee). I pulled the wrap out today and took a few shots of it with the afternoon light filtering through the bubbles. I found the bubbles gave the picture unique light and texture patterns. Makes you want to just squeeze the wrap to hear that satisfying POP!

Lines

Day 34/365
We had a long drive home today, and I am thankful for good weather and clear roads. We made it home in record time since we've been traveling with kids - we were even home before dark. I passed the latter part of the trip by playing around with my camera, taking some pictures with longer exposures of the landscape outside my window. I caught some interesting images, but this was my favorite. This image is from the side of a semi cab with a light trail from one of the blinkers. I tried something new and came up with a cool, abstract image - kinda fun!

Curly Cord

Day 24/365
Something kind of different today! This cord was just one of those weird things that when I looked at it I thought, "That would make a cool picture!" I had fun playing around with the shape of the cord and examining the shadows and reflections it made on the counter top. It's getting harder for me to be creative with these photos - I may need to start bribing my kids for some photo sessions.

Shopping Cart

Day 23/365
We needed to make a quick run to Target this afternoon, and I still hadn't come up with my picture for today. I had taken several pictures, but I wasn't pleased with any of them. As I was walking the cart over to the corral, I noticed the criss-cross pattern and the vibrant red - I was inspired. I like the little bobbles of light from the afternoon sun peeking through the pattern of the cart. I have to admit that I did feel a little strange taking pictures of my shopping cart in the Target parking lot. Thankfully, my kids were already in the car, so at least I didn't have to hear, "Mom, why are you taking a picture of THAT?!?" I've been hearing that a lot lately!
