I Will Be Here

Day 179/366
Twenty-two years ago we had the song "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman sung at our wedding, and I still choke up every time I hear it. I am certainly blessed to be celebrating twenty-two years of marriage with this amazing guy. Happy anniversary, my love!

Revelation

Day 178/366
The Queen Anne's lace is just about to open. The spines and green tendrils look so unique as they prepare to bloom.

Wood Anemone

Day 177/366
"Almost every person, from childhood, has been touched by the untamed beauty of wildflowers." ~Lady Bird Johnson

I spent almost an hour taking pictures of this delicate wood anemone I found on a walk earlier this week. I'm so glad that I picked a few to photograph because the details in the stamens and petals are exquisite. I really enjoyed experimenting with the angle, lighting and water droplets. The flower was so fragile and I needed to have a very light hand with the water droplets I added to accentuate the beauty of the bloom.

Iced Coffee

Day 176/366
I love capturing the kids doing their normal, everyday things. Enavi and I took a drive this afternoon and picked up some iced coffee treats: an iced mocha for me and an iced caramel macchiato for her. When we got home, she settled in the sunny spot on the couch, music and games on her laptop, sipping her coffee treat. A relaxing summer afternoon, teenage style.

White Campion

Day 175/366
These delicate, white wildflowers, known as Silene latifolia or white campion, were so striking in the morning sun. The little flowers are very sweet, but I especially like the calyxes with their round shape and tiny little hairs illuminated by the light.

Father's Day Smiles

Day 173/366
Happy Father's Day to the guy who makes us laugh, takes us on adventures, tells the best stories, makes up silly songs, demonstrates how to love unconditionally and lives out his faith daily. We love you!

Seek the Light

Day 170/366
We went for a walk at Donald Park this afternoon and I spotted these ferns highlighted by the sun. I love the contrast of the green against the shadowy background. We checked out the stream and then hightailed it back to the car because the bugs were fierce. Next time we'll remember the bug spray!

Painting Pottery

Day 169/366
Remember that pottery class we were taking before all things came a halt? We were able to complete our pieces by painting them. We worked outside of the studio and painted the afternoon away, enjoying the breeze and shade of the tent that Heidi set up for us. We can't wait to see our finished pieces after they are glazed and fired.

Celebrating Summer

Day 168/366
We celebrated our first official day of summer vacation with ice cream treats and a visit to Epic to swing on the porch swing and see the sheep. We loved this wide porch on the Farm Campus so much, we decided we might just come back with books and games and spend an afternoon on the farm.

Summer Jam

Day 167/366
We officially finished school today - whoopee! The kids kicked off summer with an afternoon in the pool followed by a summer jam session.

Summer Fields

Day 166/366
My favorite tree, standing in the middle of the wheat and cut alfalfa. I even managed to capture one of the red-winged black birds that was swooping over the field on a perfect summer afternoon.

Community

Day 165/366
We attended a Black Lives Matter peaceful protest and march in our little community. I'm so thankful that we have the freedom to stand in love and support of our neighbors and friends.

Fluff Finder

Day 163/366
We enjoyed the lovely evening with a walk after dinner. A fun find on our walk: wild flowers in the ditch that have gone to seed and have huge heads of fluff and are perfect for blowing into the wind.

Linger

Day 162/366
An evening walk, taking in the golden light...lingering as the shadows lengthen and the sun sinks.

The Last Peonies

Day 161/366
The peonies are fading fast, so I decided to take a few more pictures before they are done for the year. Their vibrant color and showy blooms are stunning.

Jump In

Day 160/366
It was a perfect day to hang with friends at the lake. Lots of sun, cool breeze, refreshing water and some impressive jumps off the dock!

Perfect Slice

Day 159/366
Is there anything better than a warm summer evening and a cold slice of watermelon?

A gorgeous evening for a drive with my favorite almost-16-year-old.

She's beautiful on the inside and out. I'm so lucky to call her my daughter.

Perfect Peonies

Day 154/366
"The fattest and most scrumptious of all flowers, a rare fusion of fluff and majesty, the peony is now coming into bloom."
-Henry Mitchell

Steadfast

Day 153/366
I find myself without words to say all the things on my heart, so instead I'll use God's Word in the hope of pointing to Him.

"He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord." Psalm 33:5
