Day 181/365

20 Years

Day 178/365
We celebrated our anniversary with a drive to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast. What an amazing and beautiful place! It was rainy and gloomy most of the day, but the sun came out not long after we arrived at the beach. I also pulled out the tripod and we had some fun taking pictures at sunset.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery

Day 177/365
Eno recommended that we visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery to see the process of roasting and packaging the coffee beans. It was not far from our hotel and we walked there this morning to enjoy some coffee before we began our sightseeing in the city. We purchased coffee that was brewed right in front of us through a siphon, a really neat experience (the coffee was tasty, too!).

The Space Needle

Day 176/365
We packed a lot into our first day in Seattle: Pike Place Market, the Big Wheel, lunch with Eno, the Ballard locks, the Space Needle, the Chihuly glass museum and the Museum of Pop Culture. Over 20,000 steps and we are exhausted, but we really enjoyed seeing so much of the city.

Day 171/365
We celebrated Jevin's birthday with a trip to Sky Zone, an indoor trampoline park. They also have a ninja warrior course and Jevin worked on making it across. Look at that concentration!

Happy birthday, Jevin!

After the Rain

Day 170/365
We've had several storms move through in the last 24 hours, providing relief from the heat and humidity. The rain also provided some lovely picture opportunities.

Sandbox Artist

Day 164/365
It was a glorious day and I was lucky enough to have a photo session this evening. Enavi came along as my assistant and we arrived at the park early, which gave us time to explore. You are never too old to enjoy the playground!

Stroll on Main Street

Day 162/365
I had a little free time this evening and decided to go for a walk on Main Street, practicing with the Lensbaby. I found lots of fun things to photograph, and the sun came out for a few moments which made all the difference, especially with these flowers.

The Lucky Fishermen

Day 161/365
We had a full day with church, Summer Frolic parade, and a visit to the Summer Frolic fairgrounds, which was just long enough to enjoy a funnel cake and the fishing game. We also attended a graduation party. The day was gray, damp and gloomy, but we enjoyed our time with friends.

The Windmill

Day 156/365
Oh, I am having a lot of fun with my new lens! This is my favorite shot from today. I've had this image in my head for awhile, but couldn't find a way to make it work the way I wanted it to. The bright sky made for a nice contrast against the shady trees and stark windmill; the Lensbaby added a little extra interest.

The kids introduced Nana Sue to one of their favorite stores, Bricks and Minifigs.

Lensbaby Play

Day 154/365
I broke down and bought a Lensbaby Composer Pro II with a Sweet 35 Optic. I've been eyeing up the Lensbaby lenses for quite some time and I think the effects are really fun. I took my new lens for spin today, learning how to use it as it requires all of the settings to be done manually (including focus). I'll definitely need some more practice, but I am enjoying it so far.

Carrie's Book Debut

Day 153/365
It was a honor to be able to celebrate Carrie's book debut. She had a wonderful turnout for her event, which included a reading from her book and book signing. My aunt brought her original copy that Carrie gave to family years ago and had Carrie sign it. I admire Carrie's perseverance, dedication and creativity and I'm so proud of her accomplishment!
