Work Before the Rain

Day 303/365
The crew was here, working on the outside of the addition before the rain started this afternoon. They were preparing to put up the gutters and siding. They have also put up the drywall inside, and the painting is done. Lots to do yet, but it's really coming together nicely.

Trunk or Treat

Day 301/365
This is one of my favorite pictures from our Trunk or Treat event, and it seems very appropriate... the lion and the lamb!

Here's another picture of Trunk or Treat, just in case you'd like to see what it looks like. We had a great turn out, even though it was cold and windy, and there was a Packer game on! Our counters said there were over 550 attendees.

A Peek at the Sun

Day 300/365
It was cloudy and gray for most of the day, but the sun decided to peek through the clouds before it set.

Stunning Sunrise

Day 298/365
I glanced out the window this morning while I was waiting for my coffee to finish brewing and the sky was full of amazing shades of magenta and purple. I grabbed the camera and ran up to the field before the colors faded as the sun rose above the horizon.

The Beauty of Late Fall

Day 296/365
We have been enjoying some lovely late fall weather, with crisp air and warm sunshine. The evenings have been especially nice, with lots of golden light and clear skies. We're trying to enjoy each sunny day and take advantage of the favorable weather while it lasts.

Moon Over Mt. Horeb

Day 295/365
As we drove home from a photo session this evening, we saw this bold, almost full moon rising over the farm on the edge of town. We had a little time before we needed to pick up Jevin, so we stopped to take a few pictures of the beautiful moonrise.

Dishwashing Dragon

Day 294/365
My little dragon helped with the dishes before leaving for our 4-H Halloween party.

Burning Boxes

Day 293/365
We had a pile of boxes and decided to burn them in the fire pit. It was a clear, cold evening, but we enjoyed seeing the moon and the stars.

Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds

Day 292/365
Each fall there is a stand in Mt. Vernon that sells locally grown pumpkins, squash and gourds. We decided to stop on our way home from school and pick out some gourds for a little fall decorating.

Afternoon Coffee Break

Day 290/365
Some afternoons require an additional cup of coffee.

A Walk in the Park

Day 289/365
We hiked the Mt. Vernon Overlook Trail in Donald Park this afternoon. It was a crisp and sunny fall day, and the view from the overlook is always breathtaking. I was hoping to see some vibrant fall colors from the top of the rock, but the colors seem pretty dull at the moment. I did manage to find some color when we walking back to the car, with the light shining through these leaves. I managed to capture a double start burst!

Savoring the Swingset

Day 288/365
This girl still loves to swing and we had the playground to ourselves tonight. We didn't stay long - it was cold - but it was a beautiful night for a quick stop on the swings.

Getting Ready for Winter

Day 287/365
We didn't have much sunshine today and there's talk of flurries tonight. Winter is not far off!

Here Comes the Sun

Day 284/365
The weather turned much cooler today, but the sun was shining radiantly. This is the first time in several weeks that there is zero rain in the forecast!

Ginger Crisps

Day 283/365
A rainy, blah day seems like the perfect time to make one's favorite cookies.

Rain Drops on Rose Hips

Day 280/365
Yet another day of rain. Most of the day it varied between a heavy mist and a sprinkle, but very unpleasant all the same. I ventured out just long enough to take a few pictures. I'll be so thankful when this weather clears up and we can enjoy some sunshine again!

Let's Play a Game

Day 279/365
When the weather is cool and damp, it's time to pull out a game.

Sunny Spots

Day 277/365
The sun was so bright and cheery, even though the air outside held a chill. It was such pleasant change after all the rain we've had. I peeked into the living room and found these two had settled into the two available sunny spots, reading and soaking up any available warmth and light.

Jevin's Blue Belt

Day 276/365
Tonight Jevin received his blue belt in his martial arts class. I'm so proud of his hard work, dedication and perseverance!

We Have Walls

Day 275/365
The builders started framing the walls today. We may have LOTS of mud, but we also have walls.

Macro Monday

Day 274/365
More rain today, which didn't really allow for much picture taking outside. I decided to try out a technique I read about a couple of weeks ago - macro photography with bubbles. It was fun to try something new, and I love the wild, vivid colors.
