Belated Birthday Celebration

Boomerang Championship
We travelled to Cottage Grove to watch part of the national boomerang championship competition. We saw impressive throwing, catching and boomerang tricks. The kids came home with a couple of autographed boomerangs and are ready to give it a try.

Art in the Park

Polish Poker
We celebrated my mom's birthday today. We enjoyed a yummy dinner (grilled brats, grilled veggies, watermelon and strawberry shortcake), visited, and played cards! We played a card game that was a mandatory part of every Newberry family gathering when I was growing up: Polish Poker. It was the first time the kids played it and they were hooked. Grandpa Ken was the big winner of the night. It was such a blessing to have everyone here to share in Nana Sue's special day.

Work in Progress
A local artist creates metal sculptures out of found objects. He has a collection of items and materials outside of his studio that are his "works in progress." I was drawn to the color and design of these rusty coils.

Sweet Treats
Jevin finished his school work today! We celebrated with treats from our favorite bakery, Bloom Bake Shop. Jevin had a "Be Decadent" chocolate cupcake and Enavi enjoyed a snickerdoodle whoopie pie.
And just in case you were wondering... I had a rhubarb ginger cupcake. It was delicious!
