Herb's Barn

I've been having fun playing with light and sunbursts the last couple of days. I walked across the road to take pictures of some flowers, but found the light on the barn just right to capture a sunburst. I also had a chance to chat with Herb, which is always a treat.

Autumn Wildflowers

I scouted out a new location for an upcoming photo session and it had so many wildflowers still in bloom. I enjoyed my walk on the trails, especially because of the beautiful fall colors.

Photo Walk

Enavi and I had some time to kill this evening, so we decided to go for a photo walk at Stewart Lake. We both had a great time, snapping pictures, walking the trails and visiting the beach.

Backfill for the Basement

The construction on the house is coming along. Today, the backfill was added around the basement walls, some of the old sidewalk was ripped out, and we have a temporary gravel path up to the driveway (a huge improvement over the broken paving stones). Next up: the concrete floor will be poured for the basement.

Growing Up

We had another beautiful fall day, so we took advantage of the lovely weather to take school pictures. We returned to Epic and wandered around the Wizard's Academy, finding some fun spots for pictures. They are growing up too fast!

It was an amazing evening for my photo session at Epic, and Davin and the kids came along so that we could go out for dinner when I finished up. We decided to make a stop and visit the sheep. They were very happy to see us!

We are seeing more signs of fall every day, and the weather is finally cooler. I love it when we feel that first brush with the crisp, autumn air.

We enjoyed a visit from Nana Sue and made a trip to downtown Mount Horeb while she was here. We had lunch at the Sunn Cafe, visited some of the shops and made a stop at the Pop Place for kettle corn and sodas. It's always such a treat when she comes to visit!

Soaking up the Sun

After all of the rain we've had, the past few days have felt like a gift. It's been sunny with touch of fall in the air and today was jut beautiful! We enjoyed a free outdoor concert at the New Glarus Family Festival, getting to see Colton Dixon, and couldn't help but roll the windows down on the drive home to soak up every minute of the warm the sunshine.

Goodbye, Porch

The house looks pretty different after today's demo of the porch. The excavation of the new basement begins on Monday.

Brick Removal Service

The kids worked at removing some of our landscaping bricks as we prepare for the demolition phase of the remodel to begin. The construction crew will be moving the big equipment in sometime today and demolition will begin tomorrow. We're getting excited now that things are moving along so quickly!

Roaming Turkeys

This band of turkeys has been visiting the yard each morning. They find some tasty treats and then move on to the next yard. It's funny how they are creatures of habit, making their appearance about the same time each day. Today they were brave and came pretty close to the house.

The sunlight reflecting off of the wet road made it look golden in the steamy early-morning rays.

More Rain, More Humidity

It's feeling like a tropical rain forest around here. We had lots of rain throughout the day, accompanied by very humid conditions. I'm ready for some sunshine to break up all the cloudy, wet weather.

Technicolor Leaves

The sumac berries are crimson and the leaves are beginning to change into vibrant orange and red. The collection of colors is beautiful.

Stand Out in the Crowd

This stalk of volunteer corn made me chuckle. It certainly stands out in the field of soy beans!
