Greeting the Sunrise

 Day 270/366

We've been planning this special outing for a couple of months and today was the day to take advantage of the later sunrise and summer-like temps.  We got up early, grabbed our flashlights and camera gear and drove to Donald Park.  We hiked up to the top of the Mount Vernon Overlook and arrive about 30 minutes before sunrise.  Then we sat back and enjoyed the show.  It was fairly cloudy near the horizon, so I was worried that we wouldn't see the sun as it came over the horizon, but we weren't disappointed.  We saw the sun as it rose, a deep, glowing red, and then it disappeared again behind another bank of clouds.  It was a beautiful display and a memorable adventure for all of us.
